From Local to Global: The Rapid Growth Journey of Chongqing Colorful PVC Card Factory

In 2011, Chongqing Colorful Technology Co., Ltd. was officially established with the introduction of our first Heidelberg four-color printing press, laying the foundation for high-quality PVC card production. Little did I know then that this startup PVC card factory would grow into an industry leader within just over a decade.

2012-2014: Capacity Breakthrough & Market Leadership

After overcoming initial challenges in the early days (as shared in our previous blog), we entered a phase of rapid growth. While most competitors focused on paper printing, we identified an underserved niche: small-batch PVC cards. At a time when PVC cards were mainly associated with bulk orders for ID cards or transit passes, our 100-piece minimum order policy and waterproof, durable PVC business cards quickly gained popularity.

To meet growing demand and maintain our promise of fast delivery, we invested in our first fully automated production line in 2012, boosting monthly capacity to 3 million cards. By 2014, we added three more production lines, strengthening our position as the go-to PVC card supplier in Southwest China. Our reputation for stable pricing, premium quality, fast turnaround, and door-to-door delivery became so strong that clients often placed orders in just a few words: "Need cards? Call Colorful!"

2018-2019: Owning Our Factory & Revolutionizing "One-Piece Ordering"

As demand grew, we moved into our self-owned factory in 2018. Clients began requesting more customization: "I need uniquely shaped cards," "I want premium finishes," "I have multiple designs but only need one piece each."

To meet these needs, we invested in:
✔ Automatic die-cutting machines (for custom shapes)
✔ Engraving machines (for intricate designs)
✔ Digital printing technology (Konica Minolta, 2019) – making "one-piece ordering" a reality

Monthly capacity exceeded 10 million cards, and small businesses could now afford high-quality customized cards without minimum quantity restrictions.

2020-2021: Serving China, Going Global

By 2020, we served 40,000+ clients across Southwest China. But staying comfortable wasn’t an option.

A turning point came when I visited a neighboring factory producing canvas bags. An Alibaba representative was pitching them to join as a certified supplier. Inspired, I seized the opportunity—What if we could bring Chongqing Colorful’s PVC cards to the world?

We quickly became an Alibaba Diamond Supplier, opening doors to international markets. Overseas clients demanded more: anti-counterfeiting features, UV printing, variable data coding. In 2021, we upgraded with:
✔ UV flatbed printers
✔ High-speed UV coders
✔ NBS numbering machines
…ensuring we met global standards.

2022-2025: Worldwide Expansion & Tech Innovation

By 2022, our PVC cards reached 50+ countries, including a strategic partnership with Burkina Faso’s Ministry of Health for medical cards.

In 2023, we earned the title of "Chongqing Technology-Based Enterprise", recognizing our innovation in smart card manufacturing.

In 2025, we introduced screen printing technology, pushing the boundaries of high-precision, visually stunning card finishes.

From a small workshop in Southwest China to a globally trusted PVC card manufacturer, Chongqing Colorful remains driven by one principle: "Innovation through customer needs."
